Never Underestimate the power of the BLOG!!

Sometimes I begin to feel like I am just "talking to hear my head rattle". Especially on days I only get 1 or 2 comments. Although I know you are not supposed to do this...it is so easy to begin to measure the value of your blog by the number of comments you receive.

What I have discovered though by adding a site meter, is... there are way more lurkers than commenters, and people do read even when you aren't aware. Take this for example.

Yesterday, I posted a question for the backwards Works for me Wednesday. You can read about it here. I got an anonymous comment from an online distributor of the product I was in search of and an email today from him telling me of the "complimentary" package he was sending.

Ok, people, just how cool is that? I posted a question, and got FREE STUFF. You gotta love the blogosphere.

Because I am so excited that my long lost De-Solv-It found me and I am getting some free, I just feel like promoting the product even more and telling you where you can find it too!!

This product will take gum out of hair, crayon off of tables, grease stains (cooking grease and black grease) out of laundry. I also use it to clean my jenn-air grill, and backsplash in the kitchen. De-Solv-It, you are great and oh how I have missed you!

If you can't find this at a local retailer, take a moment and visit the distributor that contacted me at down to earth products.

An Award, A Nice Surprise and a "Backwards" WFMW

First off, I want to say THANK YOU girl to Shannon for the award she gave me. I've only been blogging since June and it was my first one. Yea!! And to get it for scrapbook pages. How flattering. I know there are many more elaborate ones out there, and I often am my own worst critic. Nice to know there are people that think they are good. That really boosted my confidence.

I would like to pass this award on to Nicole at Our Cozy Nest. She is such a friendly gal, comments on my blog often with sweet sentiments and is also very creative. I get neat and creative ideas from her blog. So, Nicole...here ya go!!

Secondly, believe it or not, we are out of school today. I couldn't believe it. It's the first time I can remember them letting school out for rain, but I guess with Gustav wreaking havoc on the gulf and Arkansas getting some of it as well, the roads are flooded and they can't get busses routed. I also heard there were several in the area that had lost power. Not us yet, thank goodness, but I don't know about the school. The call came early this morning and was a nice surprise for the kids and me since I was scheduled to substitute at the High School today!! I just crawled right back into bed. ahhhh.

Being lazy today has constituted lots of time on the net. I just finished up with Rocks in my Dryer's backwards edition of Works for me Wednesday. She suggested we use this backwards day opportunity to seek advice from the blog world in hopes to help find a remedy for whatever our issue may be. I found it a great time to ask this question.

For years, I have used a product called De-Solv-It. Worked wonders getting cooking grease and other things out of laundry. Then, for some strange reason, I can not find it on shelves anywhere. I look every single time I go to Wal-Mart or anywhere I think might have it. I've even looked online, but can't find the same thing. With Big Dan coming home from Popeyes wearing lots of chicken grease, and Pete getting lots of Railroad ick on his clothes, I really need a remedy to this problem. Someone suggested Dawn dishwashing detergent, since it "really takes grease out", but I wondered if anyone else had any suggestions.

Works for me Wednesday (updated)

Ok, seriously girls, this may be the lamest Works for me Wednesday you have ever read. But I have been very impressed with this little dude and it really works for me!!

If you are totally grossed out with feet....or anything associated with feet, please accept my apologies. I just thought during these hot, barefoot, summer days you might find this tool as impressive as I did!

This is a callus shaver. Every time I get a professional pedicure, those little Chinese women use one of these on my rough heels..and believe me my heels are rough. Contribute it to all my little girl barefoot days down South, if you will. I can't hardly stand to go barefoot anymore, even in the house I wear flip flops now. Just by accident the other day I ran across one of these in the pharmacy department at Walmart. I have used it several times already and it does great getting rid of all that callused skin.

update: oh and my apologies to Shannon. This is only my 2nd wfmw and I just read I should've been linking to her...oops! For more great wfmw tips visit here.

I took Big Dan to the doctor yesterday. The doctor did a throat swab and determined he had strep. He is taking penicillin and feeling somewhat better today.

Thank goodness my gas man (what a guy...he just has no idea) finally came yesterday and brought us a few gallons of butane to provide us enough hot water til they can get the tanks switched. I guess I have no more excuses. Today, I must get off my duff, wash clothes and de-germ Big Dan's bedroom. I will try to take pictures of his room once the task is complete and use his room as my next "home tour" post while it is clean. I figured that would be the last room I posted, as I am usually scared to even walk through the door for fear of what might be lurking.

For now, I am going to treat myself to a nice, hot bath and shave my calluses! Smile....

My first Works for Me Wednesday!

Do I somehow have to be affiliated with Rocks in My Dryer to write a "Works for me Wednesday" post? I do read her blog...is that all it takes?

I don't have too many things that actually "work" for me, and the things that do you probably wouldn't be interested in....but this....THIS IS GREAT and I just had to share. I got this yesterday.

Holds 50 pounds, stainless steel, 3 tower utility cart - Sam's Wholesale -49 bucks!!

If you are a scrapbooker with these large tools, this is exactly what you need. It has a handle and is on rollers. On my top shelf I have the laptop. (which is my new baby btw, ignore the game Little Ann had been playing on the screen). The laptop has the software for my die cutter installed. Next to it is a printer..I also do most of my journaling on the computer because I cannot stand my handwriting and everything I ever hand write on, bugs me until I redo it on the computer! (That's another quirk about me)

On the middle shelf is the Klik N Kut element die cut machine. I've already told you a little bit about it here. WONDERFUL machine. If you have a Cricut or anything else this is the shelf to hold it!!

On the bottom shelf is my sewing machine. I have no clue how to sew clothes, but I do sew scrapbook pages!!

This cart is designed for anything. The box shows kitchen utensils, office supplies, shop/warehouse stuff. You could use it for anything, but this definitely works for me!! (oh, and I broke 3 nails putting this thing together, but it amazingly required no tools!)
