Sometimes Kids Are Just Plain Funny

Like when your youngest comes up to you, hugs you, and proceeds to squishy, squishy the flags that are supposed to resemble triceps all the while saying to you...."Mom, I don't want you lose weight in your arms. I like them squishy. They are soft and like my pillow".

Yeah, well, thanks for that, but if that fat decides to disappear, because I am so dedicated to my diet and my 4 miles a day, then who am I to stand it it's way? I'll buy her something else to squish.

But the funniest thing that stands out to me is this comment made by my oldest a day or two ago. It was the day Pete and I both thought our cell phones were going to explode because Big Dan was calling every minute of every hour and the conversation ended with something kind of like this... "Hey, mom, Bubba said I could take out the easy payment plan if you and daddy would just come down here to the motorcycle shop and co-sign for me".

Say What?

Is it as funny to you as it was to me?

You just have to know Big Dan. He doesn't get excited about too much. Studying, no. Bringing down his laundry, no. Going to work, nope. Taking out the trash, well, nada. Even the dating scene doesn't seem to get him too worked up anymore, but I will tell you this. When he gets something on his mind, that is ALL HE TALKS ABOUT for hours. For days. For weeks even. And that is complete with pictures that he forces you to look at, and videos he whines about until you stop and watch.

Big Dan has his heart set on this.

Somebody save me. I'm trying to ignore it, but it's just not going away.

And you know. I am really glad he has found something to get excited about. I'm really glad he's found a reason to save his money and some motivation to go to work. But to me, it's just plain funny how oblivious he is to the real world.

My rebuttal to him asking for my signature on the dotted line? I said "No honey, I'm happy you are excited about your motorcycle, but we won't be helping you go into debt the summer you get out of high school."

"But Mommm!, Bubba says it is the easy payment plan...only $95 a month for 2 years."

all the while I'm thinking..ok, what after 2 years? what about the insurance? I bet Bubba didn't bother to explain the little word interest to you, did he?

I was thinking seriously about marching myself down to that motorcycle shop and thanking "Bubba" for introducing my naive child to the wonderful world of credit. Or maybe a size 6 1/2 shoe......ohhhhh..nevermind. I just get frustrated at how these business people prey on those that don't know any better especially my kid.

The easy payment plan. I love it. This comes right after Pete and I read Dave Ramsey from cover to cover and began our mission this past January to become debt free come hades or high water.

I know Big Dan's gonna learn some great, valuable lesson from our denying him the easy payment plan. He's gonna save, and be frugal and look so cool on his new bike one day...and it's gonna be paid for.....and he's gonna be proud. And I might even get on back and go for a ride with him.....

or not.

Mickey D's Has it Out for Me!

Once a month in every girl's life...nothing can satisfy like some chocolate, some sugar and lots of carbs. Which is exactly why in the midst of all my errand running yesterday for prom night tonight, I decided an oreo mcflurry would hit the spot.

Me: "Yes, I would like to order an oreo mcflurry."
Them: "That is $2 blah blah ...drive up..blah blah.."

Them: "We're sorry, we're out of oreos."
Me: (pondering the next best thing...) "Ok. then, I'll take a hot fudge sundae."
Them: heading off to kitchen...coming back...I"'m sorry. We're out of fudge."

WHAT??? Are they CRAZY? (they are messing with hormones, here!!) Needless to say. I just got my money back.

The reason this is so comical to me is just last month, Pete, Little Ann and I ordered hot fudge sundae's from a totally different McDonalds. After paying and having the ice cream in hand...I stood there patiently waiting on spoons. After they waited on a few more people, I finally spoke up..."hello...we need some spoons", I said. Would you believe that lady looked at me and said "oh, we're out of spoons". "Well, how do you expect me to eat my sundae?".. She had no reply. I got a refund that day too. (except for Little Ann who had already headed over to get a straw).

Wow. This is almost as bad as the day Big Dan and I stopped at Taco Bell on a day they were out of meat.....awesome.

Stuffed

Are you as full as I am?

Today the fam and I headed out for our yearly Thanksgiving feast. We don't see Pete's family very often throughout the year because everyone is so dispersed throughout the state. It is very hard for everyone to break free from life and get together. Because we see my family frequently, we have always done Thanksgiving and Christmas Day with Pete's side. My family always gets together for Christmas Eve and sometimes a Thanksgiving meal on a Sunday close to Thanksgiving. Not always. It works and everybody's happy.

Anyway, today we drove all the way into Texas. Pete's aunt lives on the Texas side of Texarkana actually, but telling the kids we were going to Texas for Thanksgiving got them excited so that's what we said. We were on the road about 3 hours there and 3 hours back so I am tired, but we had a good day. It's always nice to eat foods we deprive ourselves of all year while catching up on life and a football game. And I was so happy that Big Dan was with the family today enjoying himself and people he hadn't seen in a long time. And believe it or not, I totally enjoyed that 3 hour drive home listening to him sing off key all the way.

I brought my camera in, but forgot to get it out until right as everyone was about to leave. This is about the only good picture I got all day. This is Little Ann (in the hat) and my niece. (Pete's sister's little girl)

So...who's going shopping tomorrow? Not me. I love to shop...don't get me wrong, but this chick would much rather pay full price than fight those crowds! Good luck finding those bargains though!

Well, Thanksgiving is just about over. I know this is extremely juvenile, but you know.....I have been told I was a little on the nutty side before so why not. This video is the epitome of stupid, but for some reason it just makes me laugh! Hope everyone had a great day.

Oh yeah! Note to self: Next vehicle most definitely will have dual thermostat controls!

Enjoy!

A Little Boring Conversation

My apologies early on for this extra ordinary b-o-r-i-n-g post. Not much has been going on today and I refuse to whine anymore...at least for today. (I only have an hour left so maybe that's do-able)

Got this email a few days ago. Love it.

Tonight was our regular Girl Scouts meeting. The girls are working on designing an ornament made out of natural resources for a contest. The entries are displayed at the county courthouse and the girls are invited to a Christmas tea, I guess you could say to view the entries. This year they designed their own tree out of pine cones. The star is from pine straw and of course the snow is cotton and the lights and ornaments are hand made. It turned out cute. Hope we win!

And I blogged about putting my own tree up as well. Little Ann and I did this on Saturday. I always enjoy just sitting in the living room with the overhead and lamp lights off just taking in the beauty of the sparkling tree. When Little Ann was a baby her first Christmas, we spent countless hours at night rocking by the light of the tree. My mother bought me a few new ornaments when she was out shopping the other day. Yea! She loves me. She really loves me.

Tomorrow I am getting my laptop back. I am so excited. Now I can revert back to my old lazy lifestyle of blogging and facebooking in the comfort of my own bed. Wow. What is this world coming to? lol.

I am also having lunch with a very old friend of mine whom I have not seen in approximately 18 or so years. We have had some contact over the years, but we have not actually laid eyes on one another since college. She was my very first (and only) college roommate. I'm hoping after lunch we may have a little time to do some Christmas shopping. Tommorow is the kid's last day of school for the week and Little Ann will be spending a little quality time with my parents.

And that pretty much sums it up. (And I didn't whine at all!)

Some Humor

You may not think either of these subjects are funny, but it's late, I don't get out much, and for some reason it doesn't take much to humor me right now. It's not tomorrow yet. Still have 25 mins left in this day..but since my goal is to not have more than one post per day (or less as of late), I am making use of that sneaky little blog tool that lets you make up your own time.

First item of humor: My dear son, Big Dan, has been on the job hunt for the past couple of weeks. I don't know if I mentioned that here or on my other time waster..Facebook. Anyway, yesterday he got hired at Popeyes and started work today. I paid him $1 to let me take this picture:

I don't know why I think this is so funny. I guess it's just hard to imagine my own flesh and blood at the window wearing funny little headphones saying "yo, can I take your order?" Which is probably what he said. And not to mention how many people actually got thighs tonight that ordered drumsticks, since his mother never taught him how to tell the difference. And his mother, being the confrontational one in the family, can totally relate to the feeling many customers probably felt tonight as they pulled away from the drive through only to find the cute in his uniform, silly little teenage order filler guy had no clue. Sorry, but that just cracks me up.

And he may have done just fine and this is hopefully all in my imagination.

And the other thing that just totally cracked me up tonight is this hilarious email I got from my friend today. This thing may have been circulating years and it just finally made it's way to me, but I found it quite humorous..especially since I've had cake issues with Walmart.

Ok, so here's the photograph:

Do you have any clue what this says? I think the conversation must've gone something like this:

Walmart Bakery Employee: Bakery, how can I help you?
Customer: Yes, I need to order a cake for a going away party.
Walmart Bakery Employee: What flavor and what would you like it to say?
Customer: Yellow would be fine and I would like it to say "Best Wishes, Suzanne" and underneath that "We will miss You".

You have to admit, that is pretty funny. The world is literally filled with stupid people.... And anybody that said that about my baby tonight when they left the drive through at Popeyes better think twice next time. They don't call me Scrapper Mom for nuthin'!

Have a great day! (or night whichever time of the day you chose to read this post!)
